Special to The Times
Lady Woo of 95.7 Jamz is hosting the Roxxy on the Rocks’ second annual JOKES FOR HOPE comedy show starring comedian Ira Coleman, Rod Newman and T-Ray Sanders with the preshow by DJ Plain ol’Marcus.
The show will be held Saturday, March 23 beginning at 7 p.m. in the Purpose Center at Dannon, 2324 Fifth Avenue North, Birmingham, AL 35203.
Roxxy on the Rocks brings attention and awareness to unnoticed local programs in a fun loving way. This year the Fallen Officers’ Memorial Fund is the program that Roxxy on the Rocks will support in honor of Sgt. Wytasha Carter, a Birmingham Police Officer who lost his life recently in the line of duty. He was a member of the Birmingham Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, a fun person and loved by many. Roxxy on the Rocks wants to support and honor Carter’s legacy, help his family as well as other families that face similar tragedies.
The JOKES FOR HOPE Comedy Show will also bring awareness to The Dannon Project, a nonprofit organization, that gives citizens and at risk youth the tools and support needed to become law abiding productive citizens while participating in building healthy and safe communities. The Dannon Project provides supportive services including short-term training, certifications, job placement, and reentry case management services to repair, restore, and renew the lives of their participants.
Food will be available by Jay Wings at the comedy show for purchase. Show goers can also experience Roxxy on the Rocks’ signature cocktails. General admission tickets are available at www.roxxyrocks.com/jokes-for-hope.
