Lyft – the nation’s fastest-growing rideshare company – will do its part in honoring Birmingham-area veterans by offering discounted rides to and from the National Veterans Day Parade, set to take place Saturday, Nov. 11, at 1:30 p.m. in downtown Birmingham.

Lyft passengers can enter the code ALVeteransDay17 on the app to receive 20 percent off rides both to and from the event up to $30.

“We owe our veterans so much, and we are proud to do our part in making sure the men and women of America’s armed forces know how deeply they are appreciated for their service and sacrifice,” said Lyft spokesperson Scott Coriell.

In addition to offering discounted rides, Lyft will also have 30-50 local drivers marching in the parade to show its ongoing commitment to the U.S. military.

Earlier this year, Lyft partnered with the U.S.O. as part of their Round Up & Donate program. Passengers are now able to opt-in and round their fare up to the nearest dollar with the balance going to support our nation’s veterans.

Lyft currently operates in seven Alabama cities, including Alabaster, Auburn, Birmingham, Huntsville, Mobile, Montgomery and Tuscaloosa. For more information, please visit Lyft.com.

Lyft was founded in June 2012 by Logan Green and John Zimmer to improve people’s lives with the world’s best transportation. Lyft is the fastest growing rideshare company in the U.S. with service available to 95 percent of the population.
