The 2017 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Basketball Championship will take place on Monday, Feb. 27 through Saturday, March 4 at Bill Harris Arena in Birmingham, Ala.
Men’s and women’s basketball teams from Albany State, Benedict, Central State, Claflin, Clark Atlanta, Fort Valley State, Kentucky State, Lane, LeMoyne-Owen, Miles, Morehouse, Paine and Tuskegee will compete over a five-day span in the hopes of winning the 2017 tournament title.
The SIAC will host several community engagement events associated with the tournament. On Sunday, Feb. 26 the SIAC Cheer Expo at Bill Harris Arena will kick-off the tournament with participants from member institutions. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.- this event is free of charge to the general public.
The annual SIAC College Fair is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 27 with two sessions starting at 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. The evening session is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Both sessions will be held on the concourse level of the arena. Recruiters and Admission personnel from each of the institutions will be on hand to pass out information and accept applications for Fall Admission.
Wednesday evening March 1st will feature an opportunity for Alumni from any of the SIAC institutions to get in free of charge by simply wearing their team colors or logos. Halftime of the 6 p.m. game will also feature the Sixth Avenue Sliders.
Saturday ‘s Championship games will Honor Active Military and Veterans as a part of our Military Appreciation Day- free admission to military families and Veterans will be provided.
The women’s championship game is set for Saturday, March 4 at 4 p.m. The men’s championship game will follow at 7 p.m.
