Governor Robert Bentley has appointed Victor Brown, Vice President of Business Development at the Birmingham Business Alliance, to the Renewal of Alabama Commission.

The new commission will create programs to grow Alabama’s business and industry sectors, as well as implement the Growing Alabama tax credit to help alleviate the state’s economic development needs. The commission’s other prime focus will be the Growing Alabama Credit and Port Credit, which will provide Alabama with funds for site preparation and help with the infrastructure of existing industrial sites, as well as increase cargo shipping through the state’s publicly-owned ports and enhance job creation.

“We’re very honored and proud to have Governor Bentley appoint Victor to the Alabama Renewal Commission,” said Rick Davis, Senior Vice President of Economic Development for the BBA, in a statement. “Victor has a thorough understanding of the needs of many of our communities in the state, and we believe his service to the commission will be a contributing factor to more economic prosperity in our state.”

Brown joins other commission members Greg Canfield, Alabama Secretary of Commercial and Renewal of Alabama Commission Chair; Bill Newton of the Alabama Department of Finance; Alabama State Senator Arthur Orr; Huntsville attorney Joe Ritch, Alabama State Representative Donnie Chesteen; Larry Moulton, Assistant Superintendent of Mobile County Public Schools; Birmingham attorney Liz Huntley and Ray Hayes, Executive Vice Chancellor at the University of Alabama.

The Birmingham Business Alliance is the lead economic development organization for the Birmingham region.
