Grab your friends and head to Talladega to see racing at its finest.

IT’S MORE THAN A RACE…..IT’S TALLADEGA SUPERSPEEDWAY RACES – Racing at its finest will be at Talladega Superspeedway for a weekend of fast cars, movies stars and fans from around the world.  Talladega’s weekend kicks off on Friday (Oct. 23) with practice sessions for both the fred’s 250 Powered by Coca-Cola and the Camping World.com 500. Saturday’s (Oct. 24) slate includes Good Giant/Food Lane qualifying for both races, as well as the drop of the green flag for the fred’s 250 Powered by Coca-Cola NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race (starting at noon CDT) which will feature veterans like Matt Crafton and Johnny Sauter as they try to hold off hard-charging young guns like Erik Jones, Tyler Reddick and others in the NCWTS championship chase.  The CampingWorld.com 500 gets the green flag at 1:30 p.m. CDT.  The track has many ticket options for fans of all ages, as well as hundreds of acres of FREE camping. BOO AT THE ZOO – Boo at the Zoo is on its final leg.  Put on your favorite family-friendly costumes, head to the Birmingham Zoo and check out the spooky attractions, trick-or-treating, themed rides and games on the nights of October 23-31, 5-9 p.m. at Boo at the Zoo including the all-new Skeleton Skate Ice Rink, Spider Slide, Scarousel, Eerie Express, Trick-or-Treat Lane, Haunted Hayride, and Ghost Rollers.  This will be fun for all ages and guests will skate past their friends and family while enjoying fun music and lights on this exciting new attraction in Trails of Africa with a Haunted Hayride and a Trick-or-Treat Lane. Animal exhibits will be closed during Boo at the Zoo presented by Wells Fargo. The Zoo will close at 4 p.m. on each day of Boo at the Zoo.  For more information ,visit www.birminghamzoo.com.

74th ANNUAL MAGIC CITY CLASSIC FOOTBALL GAME – What you have been waiting for …since last year.  This is the weekend that people from all over will be in Birmingham to attend the largest Black Classic in the country….in the world …right here in Birmingham, Alabama.  There will be events all over the city.   This football game is between the Alabama A&M University and Alabama State University.

MAGIC CITY CLASSIC is the largest Historically Black College and University (HBCU) football game in the country. Alabama A&M University and Alabama State University play in the game annually at Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama, and the winner could potentially earn a spot in the SWAC Championship.  Festivities surrounding the event include the Magic City Classic Alumni Pep Rally, Magic City Classic Parade, Coors Light Pre-Game Tailgate Party and the famed halftime show performed by the Marching Hornets and the Marching Maroon and White.   For more information, visit www.themagiccityclassic.com.

CLASSIC SHUTDOWN –The Q CLASSIC AFTERPARTY is the Purple and Gold Commission event at the MusiQmall hosted by the Magic City Qs and Qs from all over, with music by DJ Lenny. This is the biggest undergraduate Q Party of the year for all Schools and Divine 9.   Tell them Gwen sent you.

Dirt Dash 5K Fun Run/Walk – Birmingham Botanical Gardens holds its Fourth Annual Dirt Dash 5K Fun Run/Walk Saturday, November 14 at The Gardens.  Serious runners and casual walkers will be able to enjoy paths through Alabama’s largest living museum. The 5K will begin at 8:30 a.m., while the Walk will get underway at 9 a.m. Race day registration will begin in the parking lot at The Gardens at 6:30 a.m.  Only runners registered by October 26 will be guaranteed a t-shirt. An awards ceremony will follow at 10 a.m. Family activities will be held in The Gardens from 8 – 10 a.m.  Funds raised through registration fees will benefit The Gardens’ educational programs including its flagship program, Discovery Field Trips, which has provided a free, curriculum-based science education for nearly 100,000 Birmingham children over the last decade. SICKLE CELL DISEASE ON CANVAS – The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute and the Sickle Cell Foundation of Central Alabama will present the second annual “Sickle Cell Disease on Canvas,” at BCRI, now through December 31.  The exhibition features art created by individuals living with Sickle Cell Disease (SCD), as well as, parents, and caregivers.  The artwork, along with educational panels about sickle cell disease, will hang in the Theatre Gallery.  For more information, call 205-328-9696 x 228.

AT THE STARDOME… this weekend… Today…RALPHIE MAY Ralphie currently tours regularly performing in comedy clubs and theatres across the country. His first CD and DVD, which was released on February 10th by Melee Records, has been described as “fresh and very, very funny.” The DVD also includes footage of his recent USO Tour in Iraq and Afghanistan where he could be seen swimming in Saddam Hussein’s pool. He has also been seen on the new one-hour prime access syndicated show, “On-Air w/ Ryan Seacrest,” in which he stole the show as the traveling correspondent. And, returning to his roots, he will be hosting the Los Angeles regional auditions for the 2004 season of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing.”

AND….FRIDAY, SATURDAY and SUNDAY… SKIP CLARK….Skip Clark is a talented comedian who pulls from his everyday life experiences to help shape his comedy routine. Skip is the father of 9 children – 6 boys and 3 girls and has more hilarious stories pulled from his daily events as a father. Skip’s routine focuses on current events, including: global warming, white women with big butts, and FOX News info. Skip’s very likable personality will pull you in and his life events as a 3rd time husband (now married to a white lady!), father of 9 along with his life on the road, makes for an entertaining experience that will have you rolling.
