“And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” Joshua 24:15
Life is full of choices. From the time you open your eyes you are faced with choices. Do I get up now or sleep another few minutes; what am I going to wear today; what should I have for breakfast or should I have breakfast at all?
As the day progresses more choices present themselves to you. What should I have for lunch, which project should I tackle first today and so on. With each choice comes the need for a decision.
Now the decision making process is one that is often not handled as wisely as it could be. Sometimes we make decisions too quickly, sometimes not quickly enough and sometimes not at all. However, if there is a choice, You must make a decision.
The problem with many of us, myself included, is that we tend to make decisions but not stick to them. We allow our outside influences to change our mind, our inner fears to stop us, our physical or economical limitations too stagnate us and as a result far too often we deviate from the decision that was initially made.
“If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor.” John 12:26
It’s time for you to stick to the decisions you make. I know it’s hard sometimes because just as you make a decision, your circumstances change (test), when you begin to move in the direction of your decision, something interesting or appealing appears (temptation) and just as soon as things seem to be working out, all hell breaks loose (distractions) but you must stick to your decision.
No one knows what God’s plans are for you but God and you know when something feels right or wrong to you. Your destiny lies in your hands and you can’t worry about what they think or what they say. So you won’t be invited to that event, so you won’t fit in with that crowd, so they don’t want to talk to you anymore and so what if they don’t understand why you are doing what you are doing or don’t agree. At the end of the day, you have to live with what you decide about your life and that’s why you must stick with the decisions you make.
