Birmingham Mayor and Jefferson County Commissioner Larry Langford has been moved to a hospital from a federal medical prison in Kentucky.
Langford’s attorney Tiffany Johnson-Cole could not confirm the exact whereabouts of Langford, but was told he was transported to a hospital off site from the prison on Friday, according to a report from Fox 6.
No details were released as to Langford’s current condition or what led to him being hospitalized.
Cole filed a petition seeking commutation of Langford’s sentence earlier this year with the Department of Justice.
Langford has been in prison since 2009, serving a 15 year sentence for taking bribes while on the Jefferson County Commission.
The report said specific information about Langford is not public record, due to privacy and security issues.
