BIRMINGHAM – For a second time this season, Alabama State’s sophomore guard/forward Britney Wright has been named as the SWAC (Southwestern Athletic Conference) women’s basketball player of the week.
The Villa Rica/Detroit, Mich. native earned the award after leading the Lady Hornets to a split affair over the weekend. Wright once again had two superlative performances after banking her fourth game of 20 points or more.
Wright had 22 points and six rebounds in the 54-45 win over Alcorn State on Saturday.
In spite of Southern edging the Lady Hornets in the 53-49 loss on Monday, Wright still managed to draw a team and overall scorer high of 17 points. She tallied 39 points in the two games and has been leading the Lady Hornets averaging 15.1 ppg.
