Stillman College Choir The nationally-renowned Stillman College Concert Choir will be featured at the Stillman College Day at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Sunday, Feb. 8 at 3 p.m.  This annual event for Stillman College has been held for approximately 40 years as an outreach mission of support for Stillman, a historically-Black, Presbyterian-affiliated institution located in Tuscaloosa. Mrs. Jacqueline Richardson is Stillman’s director of Choral Activities. The college president is Dr. Peter Edmund Millet.
Among the choir’s most notable appearances are its performance of Hayden’s ”Third Mass” (Lord Nelson) with the Johnson Symphony Orchestra and on WKRG Television in Mobile for its “Family Christmas with Stillman College,” a 30-minute show taped at Bellingrath Gardens. The choir has also performed for the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), the Alabama Governor’s Art Awards Program, and for Governor Robert Bentley’s inauguration. It was commissioned to perform the Mozart “Requiem” with the Tuscaloosa Symphony on National Public Radio and in Tuscaloosa’s Annual “Realizing the Dream” Concert in memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. In some of its various performances over the years, the choir has shared the stage with such celebrities as James Earl Jones, Cicely Tyson, Della Reese, Harry Belafonte, Sidney Poitier, Maya Angelou, Roberta Flack, Gunther Schuler, Ossie Davis, and Al Green. The choir has also travelled to Schorndorf, Germany to participate in the celebration of “Heimattage.”

Westminster Presbyterian Church is located at #20-Sixth Avenue, S.W.  Rev. Joseph Reid is Pastor and Elder Gloria Dennard is Stillman College Day program chairperson. Although the program is free to the public, donations to Stillman College are welcomed. For further information, contact the church office at 205-322-0161.
