Community YouthLOS ANGELES, Calif. (BlackNews.com)  The Community Inspiring Today’’s Youth (The CITY) announced the launch of a new series of PSAs highlighting youth entrepreneurism. The CITY is a free, 46-week business enterprise incubator program for young entrepreneurs.
“The new PSAs are a great way to introduce The CITY to the business community and highlight the opportunities available to encourage our youth to pursue their passion of entrepreneurship,” said Chandra Stovall, Executive Director. “We want to support as many students as possible and train them to turn their business ideas into tangible realities. “The PSAs feature footage from The CITY’’s Oscar Night Gala where celebrities such as Gene and Nick Simmons, James Cameron, Paris Hilton, and Ne-Yo expressed their support for the nonprofit.
“We are truly grateful that The CITY has generated attention from so many noteworthy entrepreneurs,” said Stovall. “Our goal is to continue the momentum and raise enough funds to double our capacity to train students in 2015.”
The CITY completed its first full year of programming and launched four minority youth businesses in December. Osvin Suazo launched OQO Images, a photojournalism-based business and is also preparing to launch an expedition and book in June. Diago Pickens is the youngest of the entrepreneurs at age 12. He launched Kali Grind, a custom skateboard design business. Stephanie Guerrero launched Honeyfuggle, an original fan art and accessory line, complete with customized pins, bags, shirts, stickers, and stationary. John Ramirez, a brilliant graphic designer, launched JRGraphix, which is a one-stop shop for design, printing, screen-printing, and more.
The CITY is supported and sponsored in part by Watts/Willowbrook Boys and Girls Club, Torrance Chamber of Commerce, United Small Business Alliance, Blacktree TV, Always In the Club Foundation, Darelicious, and Jus’TagMe. To volunteer or make a donation, visit www.TCPYouth.org
