BIRMINGHAM, ALA. – With Thanksgiving only days away, 98.7 KISS FM, Home Depot (Trussville store), Alabama Farmer’s Market, Evans Meats, Roebuck Supercenter Wal-Mart, Sil-Loh Properties, Councilwoman Lashunda Scales and Eastern Area Progress are gearing up for their highly anticipated “Acts of Kindness” initiative to be presented on today at four eastern area Birmingham City Schools, Fire Stations 27, 28, 30 and Birmingham’s East Police Precinct.
Program Director Darryl Johnson of 98.7 KISS FM and Summit Media states their commitment and partnership with Councilwoman Lashunda Scales and Eastern Area Progress’ Acts of Kindness initiative goes beyond words.
“From deserving families to those who protect and serve our families, it is important we remember that love is the greatest gift of all,” said Johnson. “This is our way of giving back, and we ask the community to join with us in showing their own acts of kindness during this Thanksgiving season.”
Councilwoman Lashunda Scales, representative for Birmingham’s eastern area District One, says she could not have accomplished this massive task alone. She said it takes willing partners in all arenas to transform communities and the lives of the people that live in it.
“When corporate and civic leaders invest in human capital and local neighborhoods, lives are positively changed and sustainable communities are developed, ” said Councilwoman Scales.
