BCRIThe Birmingham Civil Rights Institute (BCRI) will present “Wonders of the Universe,” an exhibition of 21 painting by local artist James Dean, Jr. in the Vann Gallery from October 14, 2014 through January 11, 2015.
According to the artist, “Wonders of The Universe” contrasts everyday living scenes with the grandeur and magnificence of natural, supernatural and galactic art. “It is my sincere hope that these humble works can give the viewer a positive and enlightening experience while observing a small portion of the pageantry and beauty the universe has to offer,” he added.
A native of Birmingham, James Dean received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Alabama with a concentration in graphic design. He worked as a graphic artist at the Birmingham Coca-Cola Bottling Co. before forming his own company, James Dean Visual Art Service.  Dean also works at EternaLight Productions, a company that provides interactive presentations.
Dean has exhibited his work at several locations, including the University of Alabama’s Afro-American Cultural Center and the Southern Roots Annual Art Exhibition at BCRI from 1991- 1993.  He also has a standing mural display at the Metro Pediatrics Clinic in Birmingham.
