City of BhamMayor William A. Bell, Sr. recently accepted deeds to five undeveloped lots in the 2700 Block of the 40th Avenue North parcel of North Birmingham. Harbert Realty donated the lots to be a part of Land Bank Authority controlled properties that will be made available to qualifying citizens moving forward.
“This is about returning control of the neighborhoods to the residents. These properties could be used for single family homes, community gardens or green space areas for the residents. We are grateful to Harbert Realty for their commitment to Birmingham and for extending the public private partnership that is a critical component of the RISE initiative,” said Mayor Bell.
Established this year, the Birmingham Land Bank Authority will handle distribution of thousands of unutilized properties around the City. The Authority will bundle properties and offer them to entities and individuals for redevelopment.
