Macedonia Celebrates Annual Women’s Day

The Macedonia 17th Street Baptist Church held its Annual Women’s Day on Sunday, August 17th.
The Guest Speaker, Sister Brendia McCray, delivered an inspirational, Bible based “Come to Jesus”  message.
The Women’s Day Choir under the direction of Dr. Charles Diggins and Brother Cordnay Davis was on point. An added highlight was a praise dance by our precious Angels Praise Dancers to the song “Break Every Chain.” This brought the congregation to their feet.
Each year at this time four ladies of the church are selected to be cited for their work and their Christian character. The ladies who were recognized and received awards this year were:
The Carrie Tyson Award was presented to Sister Pamela Sanker
The Mary Jane Floyd Award was presented to Sister Willie R. Congress
The Mattie Randall Award was presented to Sister Wanda Washington
The Gertrude Faulks Award was presented to Sister Ida McKnight
The Woman of Distinction was awarded for the first time this year. The recipient was Mrs. Willie B. Carlisle, who retired this year after many years of service at the Urban Ministries.
The Women’s Day under the admirable leadership of Sister Minnie Lawson Cook and Sister Pamela Sanker was a total success.
Dr. T.E. Hunter is the Pastor of Macedonia 17th Street Baptist Church.
