BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham City Council Tuesday approved $750,000 in funding to demolish the long-vacant, downtown eyesore; Adams Inn, located on 10th Street North alongside Interstate 65. Now that the funding has been approved, the asbestos abatement and bidding process can begin. Demolition is expected to be completed within 90 days.
Known previously as the Ramada Inn and the Sheraton before that, the Adams Inn has been vacant for years. In July, the building experienced a fire and was partially demolished.
The City has been working to get the building torn down since it was condemned in 2010.
